Runners who have entered a race recently should be favoured

Here we look at how performances degrade when a runner hasn’t entered a race for some time. Our research compares the number of days since the dog has raced with the best runner in the race (i.e. the one who has run the most recently). The results are set out on the graph below:

The graph above shows the historical winning probability of greyhound entering races depending on the time since they last ran compared to the one that ran most recently in each race.

As is evident from the above, based on our research, a runner who hasn’t run for more than 20 days, compared to one who has run the most recently in the race has a 2% less chance to win. This is significant and a key factor to watch!
